we’re not always the best at being consistent with date nights. we get into phases where we convince ourselves that if a babysitter or the grandparents are watching the kiddos then whatever it is we go do is a date. the thing is, there are a lot of work related dinners and meetings in our world, and almost all of the time these nights do not include just the two of us.
sometimes we’re just really bad at leaving work at work or home even if it is just the two of us. one time we even made a stop at the local psychiatric hospital to check up on someone before showing up for our dinner reservation. nice.
we’re trying to change. last night we checked out The Blind Monk, a local wine bar that opened just over a year ago, and we agreed that this little place could easily be the thing that makes us finally and truly committed to work-free date nights. i have nothing but praise for a place where the staff is kind, the wine is great, and there are multiple cured meats on the menu.
