behind the gate

gray monday

July 21, 2008 · 5 Comments

so here we are.  in a cozy old house with quirks galore and uneven hardwood floors.  asher’s tummy is constantly gray now.  i’ve been thinking about sewing microfiber dust cloths onto all his clothes and he can be like a little roomba.  for now i’m dressing him in any gray clothes i can find.

an army of ants lives here and keeps asher entertained while i write.  but worry not, the ants’ “angel of death” is making an appearance in about an hour.  as “green” as i can be at times, i will welcome the exterminator with open arms.

i wish i had my camera but i’m not sure where it is at the moment and don’t have the energy to go hunting. omar and i didn’t realize until we moved in that when you open our front door the miami skyline is in perfect view.  beautiful.

friends have been amazing over the past few days.  i don’t even think amazing describes it.  perhaps in caps will make it better?…AMAZING!!!  there you go.  we are blessed and so thankful we made it in here safely and quickly.  and would you believe most of the boxes are gone?  indeed.

pictures to come and no more week-long pauses, i hope.

You made it- and seemed to keep your wits about you all along the way! Congrats.

We are looking at a 100 year old home tonight in an historic district…needs some work but that isn’t so much of a problem when one’s husband remodels homes for a living. We’ll see…can’t wait to see your pictures!

I’m sitting on my daughter’s bed right now noticing the train. In a weird sort of way it’s comforting.

That, or I’ve just not had enough sleep lately and am still surrounded by way too many boxes…

    Congrats!

brite – how was the house?!

megan – i think a train nearby would be comforting, too. who doesn’t like trains? as long as you don’t get stuck in traffic by them too much. congrats to you, too! um, you should have warned me about moving with kids…utter craziness.

jenni – thanks! i’ll be sure to post some soon.

House report…needs a new foundation. Great project for someone without 3 children 3 and under. :) We’ll keep looking, but we’re happy here so it’s sort of a win-win situation. I’m happy to start focusing on my current house again! I’ve been selling tons of stuff on eBay so we can make an IKEA trip soon!
