i heard on the news yesterday that the state of florida has an “unclaimed property” site where you can search for unclaimed money, jewelry, and other goodies. i visited the site, searched my name and nothing. and then i proceeded to plug in all of my family’s names. and lo and behold i found a nice little stash of cash for my dad and his uncle. the rest of the family? sorry guys. i really thought i had some utility deposit money somewhere. but my dad made a passing comment on sharing a bit of the wealth so let’s hope it wasn’t just a passing comment.
the search for a house to rent continues. we’re both getting excited about a possible church near downtown but we know we need to live in the area. and a house would be great for the boys and for having people over. i strapped the boys in the car this morning and continued to search the neighborhood we’d like to move into. but prices are so crazy. like 900 dollars out of our price range crazy. and even then these houses are not spectacular. after an hour i said/prayed out loud, “lord, we need a house. but we can’t pay such crazy prices!” i sighed, remembered i hadn’t seen anything for a reasonable price that wasn’t two steps beyond sketchy and got ready to head home when i look to my left and there is a cute little house that wasn’t for rent a few days ago with new windows (very important down here in hurricane land) and a new “for rent” sign that named a price below, yes below, our price range. hmm, coincidence? to be continued…
florida, i’ve been fighting you for the past decade or so, but cute houses and cash go a long way in making us better friends.
